Workplace reimagined: Informal and formal learning for upskilling and reskilling older adult learners for a future ready workforce

This research explores learning among older adults and their workplace realities of upskilling and reskilling and navigating the evolving workplace environment marked by automation, digitization, and job obsolescence, in preparation for a future-ready workforce. Grounded in Human Capital theory, this session uses semi-structured dialogue to:

  1. examine the informal and formal learning activities older adult learners engage in for human capital development,
  2. identify the contexts of programs in adult education (AE), including benefits and challenges older adult learners perceive, and
  3. to offer recommendations for HRD professionals who may be interested in raising the skill profile of their workforce while taking into consideration the older adult learner.
